Upon successful completion of this course, the restorative dental assistant will be able to meet the didactic requirements established by the WV Board of Dentistry to perform the following duties under the direct supervision of a dentist.

Additional clinical requirements must be met before the assistant can begin to perform the tasks in a clinical practice.You will receive more information by mail after successfully completing the course.

  • Applying topical anticariogenic agents (subparagraph o.

  • Applying pit and fissure sealants (subparagraph p.)

  • Chemical conditioning of teeth to accept a restoration and/or bracket by topical application (subparagraph v.)

  • Using a power-driven hand piece with rubber cup and/or brush for preparing for accepting a restoration and/or applicance, whcih shall in no way be represented to the patient as a prophylaxis (subparagraph w.)

  • Placing retraction cord for crown impressions with prior approval aof the supervising dentist (subparagraph x.)
